HDR (High Dynamic Range Imaging) is very popular among the professional Photographer’s. HDR photography is a method that allows to capture a greater dynamic range between the lightest and the darkest areas of an Image, which a normal digital cameras can not capture. HDR images can represent more accurately the range of intensity levels of light found in real scenes as the eye can see. 

But to shoot a HDR image you need to have a high end camera, A tripod, Patients and of course a lot of time. HDR images usually consists of three images shot in  three different exposure value eg. EV 0.0, EV –1 or 2 and EV +1 or 2. Some photographers takes more shots with different EV, depending on the scene. 

For the less fortunate ones and a home user, today I would like to share this Photoshop tutorial, how to how to fake hdr in photoshop, with a single Image file, call it a Fake or Pseudo HDR image, I’m sure you will enjoy it.

HOW TO FAKE HDR IN PHOTOSHOP:

OK fine ! lets start. Open your image in Photoshop. Results are better if the image is of high quality, preferably larger than 800×600 (results are better). I am using PS3 however any version of PS will do. I am using this image.( I had to reduce the size of the image to load faster)

How to make some part of your Photo color & BW

How to make some part of your Photo color and the rest to BW.

In this Photoshop Tutorial lets learn how to make some part of your Photo color and the rest of the photo in to black and white. This Photoshop tutorial is helpful when you want to put some emphasis on a part of photo as a special effect. You may have seen this effect where the main character in a photo is shown in color and the rest of the photo in black and white.

Step 1: I am using Photoshop CS3, however any version would do fine. First Open your photo in Photoshop in which you want to apply this effect. Figure out which part you want to keep colored and which part in black and white. Photos with people works well. I am using this stock photo, you can use your own or download any stock photo.

Step 2: From Photoshop menu click on – Layer – New adjustment layer – Channel mixer, as shown below. Adjustment layers automatically creates masks, which is gives great  control over what ever we do on a photo.

Burning Fire effect with glossy reflection, is a great Photoshop special effect. Today I will be continuing with my Tutorial on how to design a “Burning Fire effect with Glossy reflectionPart – II. As I have already explained in my first part,it’s a Photoshop effect which can be achieved without much skill, however, if you have little knowledge about layer’s, Layer effects, usage of Mask etc, will definitely help. But don’t worry, you can do it if you follow this tutorial step by step. I have tried to show as many Photo’s as possible to make it easier to understand and follow.

STEP: 1  If you look at your Layer pallet in Photoshop you will see this.

Here you can clearly see the layer effects we have applied earlier in Part –1 to the top layer of the text “FIRE”. Now press and hold the “Shift” key on your keyboard and click on the layer “Background copy” this will select all the layers in between, except the original “Background” layer. Once selected (selected layers will be highlighted with blue color) now press CTRL + E key on your key board, this will merge all the selected layer’s without interfering with the layer effects applied to the top text layer. Now you will have only two layers as shown below.

 Burning Fire Effect with Glossy reflection Photoshop Tutorial- Part 1

 

Burning fire effect with glossy reflection, is a great special effect, which can be achieved without much skill in Photoshop. In this tutorial I will show you how to achieve a Burning fire effect with glossy reflection in Photoshop easily, if you follow these steps carefully. This tutorial will be in two parts.

In the first part we will learn how to make the Fire Effect in Photoshop and In the second part we will learn how to make the Glossy effect. At the end of this First part you will learn how to make this.

Fire Effect with Glossy reflection

So lets get started. PART –1          TEXT ON FIRE EFFECT

NOTE: Its going to be a lengthy post, be patient at the end you will be grateful to yourself: 

I am using Photoshop CS3, but any version will do since the interface is same.

STEP: 1: Open a new Document in Photoshop size 800px by 600px at 72 resolution. Fill your document with black color by going to Edit >> Fill>> Black.

STEP: 2    With the Type tool type some word in your document. For this tutorial I typed “FIRE” using Arial Bold font and size at 250 points. color White.

STEP: 3     In the Layer Pallet (Layer pallet is on the right side of Photoshop window) right click on the Text layer and choose “Rasterize type” this is necessary make the text in to pixels and we can apply layer effects. Now use the “Move” tool Text on fire effect Photoshop tutorialand reposition the Text in such a way that the text is centered horizontally and is slightly below the center line.

STEP 4:  Now Duplicate this Text layer. Right click on the Text Layer and from the menu choose Duplicate Layer you will now have two layers of the Text.
